I. Project Title:
LAKBAY – ARAL: A Travel and Tour in the Light of Philippine Education and Culture

II. Project Proponent:
This travel and tour services for the educational institutions is proposed by St. Michael Explorer Travel and Tour (SMETT) in partnership with the different recreational, educational, and spiritual areas in the Philippines.

III. Project Rationale:
For a developing nation, like the Philippines, education is a visa in search for greener pasture. Strug
gling with their pens and papers comes with blistering hope that with diplomas at their hands or titles prefix at their names greets them a better future. Education is a staircase for social mobility.

Philippine education setting has been directly affected by the changing political and economic landscape in the course of the history. The melting pot of nations has been a battlefield of struggling foreign forces, i.e. the Spanish, Americans and the Japanese invasion., which imposed their will and control during the colonial years and its impacts have been in continued resurface and is being felt up to the present times. Refracted at the shadows of Philippine educational institutions are the colonial dregs of our own history, of our culture and identity. According to Persell (1975), the structural basis used by society relies upon the educational system to recreate and legitimate structures of dominance of society. Her perspective suggests that structure of dominance in society is related to educational structures and ideologies. LAKBAY – ARAL: Aims to provide the students an analytical overview to the current trends and issues that beset that current Philippine educational setting. In doing so, it will consider fragments of historical and cultural accounts of Philippine educational setting and correlates how it had impact acceptance or resistance to much-pressing issues of today.

IV. Project Objectives:
LAKBAY – ARAL: A Travel and Tour in the Light of Philippine Education and Culture is a travel and tour service that offer affordable and reasonable through flexible and customer-oriented packages designed to explore different places and with focus on personal and professional development of students, will be in accordance to the following:

1.To present and discuss some pressing trends and issues in the current Philippine education setting with the help of various tourist guides and speaker expert in the field of Philippine education history and culture;
2.To be able to let the students have a full application of the theoretical knowledge that they gained from time of commencement in the four walls of the educational institutions;
3.To expose the students in the real world and having them immerse to the real conditions; and
4.To develop and strengthen their foundation of moral values all throughout the trip.

V. Project Description:
LAKBAY – ARAL: A Travel and Tour in the Light of Philippine Education is a travel and tour services including Domestic and International Tour. It is especially designed to let the students have an application and visualization of the theoretical knowledge that they have learned from time of commencement in the four walls of the educational institutions.

The service is commissioned with the social and natural environment as resources for learning. It shall first proceed with a brief yet comprehensive presentation of Philippine Education and Culture Situationnaire. Each topic will be presented and discussed by the tourist guide in partnership with the assigned teacher. The tourist guide makes sure that learning while travelling vis-à-vis is fun. However, the itinerary of the service will be aligned to the level of the students and its curriculum.

VI. Project Duration:
LAKBAY – ARAL: A Travel and Tour in the Light of Philippine Education depends on the customized itinerary agreed by the school administrators and the company.

VII. Budget Proposal:
St. Michael Travel and Tours (SMETT) shall offer efficient and effective services that are affordable and reasonable through flexible and customer-oriented packages designed to explore different places.

VIII. Maintaining and Evaluation:
Supervision of the service will be done by the tourist guide as well as the assigned faculty member. Moreover, evaluation and feedback will be gathered from the customers to help in improving the service that the company offers.
